The 2018 harvest started in early September under perfect ripening conditions. Included in the fermentations were 35% whole-cluster to add complexity and vibrancy. There are no “additions” to our winemaking; we employ indigenous yeast during fermentation. When we bottle, there is no fining or filtration, creating a Natural Wine in every aspect. Appropriate dark ruby color, with amazing fresh soft red fruit aromas and a hint of cardamom, this Pinot has rich and balanced on the palate featuring cocoa, blackberry, oak, and a killer depth of flavor. As always, a candidate for the cellar.

  1. WE

Black-plum, incense, black-cherry and root-beer aromas show on the nose of this bottling from a regional standard bearer. Sandalwood and mahogany flavors make for a woody palate, where the dark-plum and purple-flower flavors cling to a firm tension.

  2. JD

Crushed stone, lit gunpowder, peppery herbs, sassafras, violets, and assorted red and black fruits all emerge from the 2018 Pinot Noir Estate, a brilliant release from this estate that’s medium-bodied, has bright yet integrated acidity, beautiful balance, and a great, great finish. It’s young and unevolved (yet it’s already complex) and will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age, but this is a gorgeous California Pinot Noir on every level. It’s going to drink well for over two decades.

  3. VIN

The 2018 Pinot Noir is gorgeous. Deep and super-expressive, the 2018 has so much to say. Hints of dried herbs, blood orange, rose petal, cinnamon and star anise complement a core of red cherry/plum fruit nicely. This stylish, elegant Pinot has a ton to offer. But it also needs time, as the stem component is a bit pronounced in the early going.

Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir, a name derived from the French words for 'pine' and 'black,' refers to both a red-wine grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera and the wines predominantly made from these grapes. This grape varietal is celebrated for its tightly clustered, pinecone-shaped bunches of fruit. It has a reputation for being a delicate and challenging grape to cultivate and transform into wine, but it yields some of the most highly prized and expressive wines in the world. 2. Growing Regions: Climate and Soil Pinot Noir thrives in cooler climates, making it a staple in regions like Burgundy (France), Oregon's Willamette Valley (USA), Central Otago (New Zealand), and parts of Australia like Yarra Valley and Tasmania. The success of Pinot Noir in these areas can be attributed to specific...Please check Pinot Noir for more information
Santa Cruz Mountains

The history of the Santa Cruz Mountains wine region is one of perseverance and innovation. With a storied past dating back to the 1880s, this mountainous AVA has defied the odds to become one of California's most celebrated winemaking areas. Pioneering vignerons, led by Osea Perrone of Ridge Vineyards, braved the challenging terroir, setting the stage for the region's viticultural legacy. Despite a setback during the Prohibition era, viticulture resurged in the 1940s, eventually leading to the AVA's official recognition in 1981. Situated between the scenic Monterey Bay and bustling San Francisco, the Santa Cruz... ...Check Region for more information
