8 reviews for Ledge Bien Nacido Vineyard ‘Block 11’ Syrah 2020

  1. Diane Wilson

Full-bodied with a big nose. Requires decanting for 3 hours. Has blue fruits, violets, smoke and a hint of sweetness. Age it for 3-5 years.

  2. James Winter

99 points from JD. Gifted all but 1 bottle.

  3. Ralph Tyrone

Great Syrah for the price. In-between Rhone and California style, not too meaty but not unctuous either. Almost as good as the rare Hudson Syrahs.

  4. William Adamson

“Stunning wine with huge blue fruit. Enjoyable right away and held up well on day two.”

  5. Lydia Laymon

A young, wild wine bursting with ultra concentrated blackberry/blueberry/raspberry pie flavors, mocha, lavender, meaty and tarry umami, and a gentle sea breeze. Taut and vibrant with velour tannins and a kick of warmth at the finish. Excellent QPR for $60, could use a little time to become even more expressive. Similar to Turtle Rock G2 syrah.

  6. William Russ

“Phenomenal wine, with a bright nose of blackberries, blueberries, and sesame paste. Aromatic with real terroir and a focused palate. Lots of fresh squeezed berries and hints of liqueur, with a ton of balance. Great wine.”

  7. Matthew Park

    Mouth-coating pleasure.

The 2020 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard is pure gold and one hell of an impressive Syrah that readers should snatch up. Sporting a dense purple hue as well as incredible aromatics of blue fruits, cassis, ground pepper, violets, and smoked game, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, opulent mouthfeel, silky tannins, and a great finish. Coming from 100% destemmed Syrah that spent 19 months in 80% new French oak, it’s going to blow you away any time over the coming decade, if not longer.

While its origins have stirred debates, the northern Rhône Valley of eastern France is indisputably its modern viticultural home. Additionally, in Australia, Syrah reigns supreme and is often known as Shiraz, gaining a distinct personality in this land down under. One of the defining features of Syrah is its adaptability to various viticultural regions across the globe. It flourishes in temperate to warm climates, where it can manifest its true potential. The climatic conditions and soil profiles of these regions play a crucial role in nurturing this grape variety. Syrah wines emanate a captivating bouquet. In their youth, they can be quite...
