Wine Description

2017 Lavinea Nysa Pinot Noir is deep and beautiful Bing cherry color, with a softer edge, the initial aromas of bright cherries, passionfruit and floral notes of lavender open to sweet cherries, nutmeg and mace surrounding the flinty notes. The initial palate impression is bright and nervous, with a youthful mid-palate that displays freshly baked cherry pie with cinnamon and a firm mineral core that tightens through the finish with finely textured and coating tannins. Overall, a very composed wine fit for a great life in bottle.

  1. WS

Polished and detailed, with delicately layered cherry, smoky sage and black tea flavors that dance on a silky finish.

  2. WE

Clear and resonant Bing cherry fruit is highlighted with rather delicate aromas of lavender and moist earth. The use of native yeast and a pleasingly light application of new French oak (22%) keep all the details in view, and the wine persists with a firm spine of steely minerality through a lingering, yet restrained, finish.

Pinot Noir grapes exhibit a distinct elegance. Their thin skins and tightly clustered berries make them susceptible to disease and challenging to cultivate. However, the rewards of this persnickety grape are extraordinary. Pinot Noir wines possess a remarkable flavor profile, often described as silky, with vibrant acidity, delicate tannins, and an array of aromas. Expect to encounter red fruit notes like cherry and raspberry, accompanied by earthy undertones, floral hints, and sometimes a touch of spice. Renowned regions such as Burgundy in France, the Willamette Valley in Oregon, and California's Sonoma County have become synonymous with exceptional Pinot Noir production. Each region brings its own terroir and climate, contributing to the wine's character. Burgundy, for instance,... Read More

The Dundee Hills AVA boasts a captivating history intertwined with Oregon's wine-making journey. Nestled in the Willamette Valley, it's a short 25-mile drive south-west of Portland. The first forays into wine production here began in the mid-1960s, led by visionaries who believed in the superior terroir of Oregon for cultivating Pinot Noir, over its Californian counterpart. This belief was affirmed in 1979 when a Pinot Noir from this region triumphed over... Read More
