    Wine Description

The vivid deep red rim with purple center alludes to the superior quality of 2016 Laird Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Flat Rock Ranch’. The nose is clean with pronounced aromas of fig jam, Kona coffee, vanilla and cherry cola. This medium-bodied wine has supple tannins and medium acidity that are complemented by pronounced flavors of molasses, blackberry jam and rosemary. This wine is built to last, perfect for setting down in your cellar or enjoy it with some mid rare A5 wagyu. Drink now through 2028.

Our Flat Rock Ranch vineyard is located near the north corner of where Yountville Cross Road meets Silverado Trail, on State Lane. This prized, complex fruit from the Yountville Appellation is a result of unique geological and meteoroligcal conditions: volcanic soils similar to the adjacent Stags Leap District, but also display ancient coastal deposits and sedimentary and alluvial soils that provide beneficial stress for our vines. Marine air currents from San Pablo Bay to the south are caught when they reach the “Yountville Mounts,” providing a natural cooling effect that balances warm, sunny days that ripen the rich tannins of our hallmark Cabernet Sauvignon to elegant distinction.

A juicy and fruity red with blackberries and chocolate. Full body, but some tension and focus at the finish. Shows some energy and form. Drink in 2020.

The grape is known for its thick skin, which helps it to withstand harsh weather conditions, and its small berries, which contribute to its concentrated flavor. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are typically harvested in the late fall, when the grapes have reached their optimal... Read More
