Wine Description

In his, John Koongsgaard, own words: “Fifth-generation Napa natives, Maggy and I began our endeavor in the 1970s planting The Judge vineyard on the Kongsgaard family land near Napa. The inaugural Kongsgaard wines came in 1996. We now produce The Judge, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon,  Syrah, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Albariño in our underground winery—a cave dug into the volcanic rock, high on the eastern rim of the Napa Valley where we have planted a spectacular mountain vineyard. We also direct the farming under long-term contracts on several perfect acres in the Napa Carneros and near the winery. These intensely farmed, shy-bearing vineyards and our traditional low-intervention winemaking produce powerful, graceful wines—vivid expressions of vineyard and variety. Production is limited to what we, with our son Alex, can make with our own hands.”

Additionally, in Australia, Syrah reigns supreme and is often known as Shiraz, gaining a distinct personality in this land down under. One of the defining features of Syrah is its adaptability to various viticultural regions across the globe. It flourishes in temperate to warm climates, where it can manifest its true potential. The climatic conditions and soil profiles of these regions play a crucial role in nurturing this grape variety. Syrah wines emanate a captivating bouquet. In their youth, they can be quite... Napa Valley AVA, located just an hour's drive north of San Francisco, California, holds the title of being the most renowned and prestigious wine region in the New World. The Napa Cab is a red wine that is aged in oak and has a strong aroma of blackcurrant, boysenberry, liquorice, vanilla, and smoky, bittersweet chocolate. It's the signature wine of the vineyard. Stretching approximately 35 miles (60km) southeast to northwest between the Vacas and Mayacamas mountain ranges, Napa Valley boasts some of the most valuable vineyard properties on Earth.
