The 2019 Hourglass Blueline Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has explosive aromas of currant, plums, baker’s chocolate and rose petal are followed with secondary notes of gravel, cedar box and vanilla bean. Flavors of warm black cherry compote, hoisin, black olive, cocoa powder and unsweetened chocolate are framed by the natural minerality that is a hallmark of Blueline. The finish is long and polished with a wonderful lift from the 3% Cabernet Franc, the first time its been added to Blueline Cab. This is plush and rich but make no mistake it is a massive wine that has a good 20-30 years of life.

3 reviews for Hourglass Blueline Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

  1. WA

A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate reveals an opaque purple-black color, exploding from the glass with bombastic scents of crème de cassis, blackberry pie and chocolate-covered cherries, plus hints of Indian spices, menthol and licorice, with a touch of sandalwood. Full-bodied, concentrated and impressively opulent, the palate features layer upon layer of exotic spices intertwined with black and blue fruits, velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long, long, long.

  2. JD

The 2019 Blueline Cabernet Sauvignon is another stunning wine in the lineup. Revealing a deep purple hue as well as beautiful cassis and blue-tinged fruits, it has lots of violet and lead pencil notes, medium to full body, perfect balance, and incredible tannins.

  3. VIN

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline is the most elegant and nuanced of the three Cabernets in the range. Blueberry jam, crème de cassis, lavender, licorice and spice open first, framed by silky tannins that give the 2019 a feeling of finesse that is impossible to miss.
