    Wine Description

A blend of 98% Syrah and 2% Viognier from the Less Collines and Elle’s Vineyard in Walla Walla, the 2019 Echoland Syrah Walla Walla is a pretty, elegant, medium-bodied wine offering subtle yet outstanding aromas and flavors of spiced red fruits, leafy herbs, new leather, and dried flowers. It builds nicely on the palate, has supple tannins, and again, shines for its balance and purity more than outright power. It’s a beautiful wine from this estate.

Our commitment to Walla Walla Valley is steadfast; our block of Les Collines Vineyard is here supplemented by fruit from the stonier areas of the Walla Walla Valley. Our preference for only light amounts of new oak had to accommodate the richer Syrah style that the “stones” produces, but we stayed true to our use of only 500L French puncheons.

Syrah, a dark-skinned red grape, has earned its place in the wine world as a producer of full-bodied wines boasting robust fruit flavors. While its origins have stirred debates, the northern Rhône Valley of eastern France is indisputably its modern viticultural home. Additionally, in Australia, Syrah reigns supreme and is often known as Shiraz, gaining a distinct personality in this land down under. One of the defining features of Syrah is its adaptability to various viticultural regions across the globe. It flourishes in temperate to warm climates, where it can manifest its true potential. The climatic conditions and soil profiles of these regions play a crucial role in nurturing this grape variety. Syrah wines emanate a captivating bouquet. In their youth, they can be quite... Nestled in the southeastern corner of Washington state, extending gracefully into Oregon, the Walla Walla Valley AVA stands as a testament to the fusion of geography and passion that defines great winemaking regions. This picturesque valley cradles vineyards on both sides of the border, flourishing amidst the hills that embrace the meandering waters of the Walla Walla River, a tributary of the Columbia River. Walla Walla's vinous journey is a tale of revival and innovation. It traces back to the 1850s when settlers, captivated by the region's potential, planted the first vines. However, the Idaho Gold Rush and the... Read More
