Fragrant, alluring, and exotic, Darioush Viognier Signature Series 2021 is a rarity in Napa Valley, expressing its inherently bright and vibrant character when grown from the cooler locales of Oak Knoll. Here, dense early morning fog and late afternoon breezes allow this delicate variety to ripen slowly and completely, resulting in a wine of exceptional charm and allure.

Upon pouring, a flourish of vibrant stone fruits, honeysuckle, and tropical fruits rises from the glass, enticing the senses with an intoxicating bouquet. The 2021 Signature Viognier opens with the spirit of spring, exuding the sweet aromas of orange blossoms and jasmine. These floral notes intertwine with the richness of apricot and nectarine, while a hint of spice, reminiscent of nutmeg or ginger, adds complexity to the aromatic profile.

On the palate, this Viognier unfolds with an explosion of juicy peach and apricot flavors, evoking the sensation of biting into the ripest summer fruits. Succulent mango and pineapple notes follow suit, contributing to a luscious and captivating mouthfeel. Delicate undertones of tangy lemon sorbet and orange blossom further enhance the wine’s complexity, elongating the finish with a burst of fresh and lively flavors.

Darioush Viognier Signature Series 2021 has earned critical acclaim, securing 92 points from James Suckling. The wine’s freshness and floral nature are evident, highlighted by the vivid citrus and tropical fruit characteristics that persist throughout the finish. This is a wine that embodies the very essence of Viognier, showcasing the grape’s unique and enchanting qualities, and is a testament to the skill of winemaker Hope Goldie in crafting such a remarkable expression of this rare Napa Valley gem.

    Go-to Viognier.

  2. Brenda Kassing

A delightful wine with tangerine and lemon zest aromas, crisp acidity, and a dry finish. Perfect with roast chicken and mashed potatoes. Wish we had bought more bottles. Highly recommended!

  3. Francis Knutson

Great wine, wish we had more.

  4. Jessie Mcnish

    Beloved choice.

  5. James Askew

A perfectly balanced wine with excellent acidity. Definitely the best vintage since 2007.

  6. Debra Holden

Aromatic nose, with white flowers, lime zest, orange peel, white peach, and wet rock. Balanced palate, combining richness and a crisp mouthfeel. Light-bodied yet complex, with a touch of heat in the finish. Despite not being a favorite grape, I would still consider purchasing this wine. Vineyard planted early on by the Mondavi family.

viognier
Viognier (French pronunciation: [vjɔɲje]) is a white wine grape variety. It is the only permitted grape for the French wine Condrieu in the Rhône Valley. Outside of the Rhône, Viognier can be found in regions of North and South America as well as Australia, New Zealand, the Cape Winelands in South Africa, south Moravia region in Czechia, Israel and in Austria at Weingut Roland Minkowitsch. In some wine regions, the variety is co-fermented with the red wine grape Syrah where it can contribute to the color and aroma of the wine. Like Chardonnay, Viognier has the potential to produce full-bodied wines with a lush, soft character. In contrast to Chardonnay, the Viognier varietal has more natural aromatics that include notes of peach, pears, violets and minerality. However, these...Please check Viognier for more information
