Crafted by acclaimed winemaker Christophe Baron, Cayuse The Lovers Blend 2019 is a remarkable fusion of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah, resulting in a wine that harmoniously marries the essence of these two exceptional varietals. Consulting winemaker James Suckling’s touch shines through, as reflected in the array of accolades this wine has garnered.

Pouring into the glass, The Lovers unveils a deep ruby/plum hue, foretelling its richness. Aromas of black cherries, iodine, and dried flowers interlace, accompanied by hints of nutmeg and an intriguing briny quality. On the palate, it presents itself as medium-bodied, with a velvety texture that wraps around soft, silky tannins. Juicy red fruits dance gracefully, evolving into layers of ground spice and black tea, while a subtle hint of salty air adds a unique dimension.

The wine’s profile is a tapestry of ripe dark currants, red cherry compote, and salted Kalamata olives, with Provençal herbal nuances that captivate the senses. A symphony of red and dark fruits takes center stage, embellished by notes of pipe tobacco and menthol, harmonizing beautifully with suggestions of wet stone and nori. The balance and suppleness displayed by The Lovers showcase Christophe Baron’s mastery, ensuring a seamless integration of its elements.

Earning 95 points from renowned critics like Jeb Dunnuck and James Suckling, with Owen Bargreen praising its knockout quality, this wine’s seductive nature shines through. Approachable now, yet capable of cellaring for 15-20 years, Cayuse The Lovers Blend 2019 is a tribute to the artistry of winemaking and a testament to the extraordinary terroir of Cayuse Vineyards.

  1. JD

The 2019 The Lovers checks in as 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah, and its deeper ruby/plum hue gives way to a plump, juicy, more forward wine offering lots of red and black currant fruits, notes of tobacco leaf, sweet earth, and graphite, medium to full body, and a rounded, textured, already delicious style on the palate. There’s no harm in opening bottles today, yet it has 15-20 years of longevity.

  2. JS

Rounded aromas of black cherries, iodine, nutmeg and dried flowers. Medium-bodied with soft, silky tannins. Juicy and fresh red fruit on the palate with good length, evolving into ground spice and black tea. Briny. Nicely nuanced. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah. Drink now.

The 2019 The Lovers is composed of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah. The nose offers aromas of juicy, dark blackberry skin, a fresh element of dusty plum blossom and a soft savory essence. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers a bright flavor profile with flashy black raspberry and blackberry tones before a delightful umami character appears across the mid-palate. The wine glides to a long, spicy and dusty finish with lingering notions of sandalwood and a firm, dusty and tannic edge.

The 2019 The Lovers opens slowly in the glass, delicate and nuanced, with a dusty mix of dried flowers, incense, currants, and wild blueberries offset by a hint of wet stone. This soothes with its silken texture and balance of vividly ripe fruits and stimulating acidity. As the name implies, this is almost sensual in character, supple and giving yet stimulating, leaving violet inner florals and hints of confectionary spice that mingle above a gentle tug of fine tannins. The Lovers is a truly seductive blend...

Baron’s repertoire at Cayuse is a testament to his versatility and deep understanding of viticulture. He is renowned for crafting wines that vividly express the minerality and earthiness characteristic of the vineyard's basalt cobblestone terroir, echoing the... More Products
