Bodegas Caro ‘CARO’ 2018 has deep red color. The nose is complex with red fruits and figs, followed by aromas of blackcurrant. On the palate, the wine is round with soft tannins, displaying generous aromas of blueberry and blackberry. Well balanced, with a good persistence on the finish.

4 reviews for Bodegas Caro ‘CARO’ 2018

  1. DEC

Made by the Catena Zapata and Rothschild families with grapes from Paraje Altamira, Caro 2018 is an exquisite assemblage of 76% Malbec and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 months in barrels made by Domaine Rothschild in Pauillac. Thanks to an excellent season, offers extraordinary elegance with its aromas of dark fruit, mountain herbs, violets and lavender. Velvety in feel with an inviting texture, good freshness and polished tannins.

  2. JS

Beautiful, complete aromas of currants, sweet tobacco and iodine with some crushed cement, following through to a medium to full body with fine, linear tannins and a chewy finish that lasts a long time. Finesse with structure. Give it two or three years to soften. Try after 2022.

  3. TA

Combining the considerable talents of Fernando Buscema and Philippe Rolet (the former made the wine, the latter did the blend), Caro is one of the wines of the vintage in 2018. Paraje Altamira is the source of this finely judged cuvée of Malbec and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 80% new wood. Subtle, graceful and perfumed, it’s a wine that carries its structure and concentration lightly, with graphite, cassis and blueberry fruit, fresh acidity and harmonious, caressing tannins. Superb stuff. 2023-2033.

  4. VIN

The 2018 Caro is a blend of 76% Malbec with 36% Cabernet Sauvignon from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley, aged for 18 months in French barrels, 80% of them new. Garnet red in the glass The complex nose is more inference than statement; everything is present, but nothing stands out. Fresh plum and blackcurrant, country herbs, hints of violet, oak and spice feauture alongside a touch of undergrowth. But the key is what happens in the mounth. Its sheer velvet with blood, gently reactive tannins that deliver chalky, juicy texture while precise, detailed flavors grown more prominent with each sip. This is a wine where one can switch off their mind and simply enjoy, a rare and attractive quality. Drink: 2023-2035.

Cabernet Sauvignon - Malbec Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon - Malbec is a distinctive blend of two renowned red grape varieties, each with a rich heritage rooted in the Bordeaux region of France. While Cabernet Sauvignon continues to be a staple in Bordeaux, Malbec has gained prominence in the elevated vineyards of Argentina, where it contributes to creating robust, tannic wines replete with a spectrum of red and black fruit flavors. The blend's character and flavor profiles are largely influenced by the proportion of each grape variety. In blends where Malbec is dominant, the aroma often includes floral notes of violets, complemented by dark plum scents and a hint of gaminess. On the palate, these wines offer deep flavors of dark fruits with a subtle, rustic edge. Conversely, when Cabernet Sauvignon takes precedence, the...Please check Cabernet Sauvignon - Malbec for more information
