Altamura Sauvignon Blanc 2016 is a fantastic example of the varietal from Napa Valley. There is a hint of botrytis, as if this were harvested late. I get candied pineapple, star fruit, gooseberry, quince paste and ripe melon framed on a full bodied palate that finishes long and with enough brightness to make it very food friendly. I paired it with a simple salad dressed with goat cheese, croutons and caesar vinaigrette, along with wine herb marinated grilled chicken. A stellar wine that elevates the grape.
