Hope Goldie Description
Hope Goldie, a visionary winemaker, holds the key to a thousand crucial decisions in the world of wine production. With a meticulous approach honed from the vineyard to the cellar, laboratory, and crush pad, she embodies excellence. Drawing on her extensive knowledge of fermentation science, sensory chemistry, viticulture, and enology, Hope fine-tunes each lot with precision.
Her passion for winemaking took root in her childhood, where she worked alongside her father, crafting Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Carignan in Washington. Her formal training under the guidance of sensory chemist Ann Noble at UC Davis solidified her dream of becoming a winemaker. In her graduate work sponsored by the California Department of Food & Agriculture, Hope explored Botrytis Cineria through quantitative microbiology.
Her journey continued with stints as a Brewer at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and in cellar operations and enology at esteemed Napa Valley estates like Opus One. These experiences further fueled her ambition to create exceptional, high-end Bordeaux blends.
In 2005, Hope joined Darioush as an Enologist and worked side by side with the founding Winemaker, Steve Devitt. For a decade, she contributed her expertise before earning the well-deserved promotion to Director of Winemaking in 2018.
Today, as the Director of Winemaking at Darioush, she continues to lead all aspects of winemaking with unwavering dedication. Beyond her work at the winery, Hope also serves on the Board of Directors for the American Society of Enology and Viticulture, extending her influence and expertise to benefit the broader wine community. Hope Goldie’s journey is one of passion, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of perfection in the art of winemaking.
