George Hendry is a renowned winemaker and cyclotron designer. He has lived in Napa, California since 1939, when he was just two years old. Growing up on the ranch gave him a deep appreciation for the land and a profound understanding of farming which has served him well over the course of his life.
In 1959, George earned an undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He then joined the Navy and served for two years, before returning to complete his master’s degree in 1963. From 1963 to 2008, George worked at several companies and even founded a cyclotron engineering company of his own. His designs for particle accelerators are used in hospitals around the world.
When George wasn’t designing cyclotrons, he could usually be found tending to the grapes on his ranch and making Hendry wines. His commitment to detailed viticulture earned him a reputation for producing some of the finest wines in California. His keen understanding of the fundamental concepts of farming and engineering have also enabled him to develop award-winning wines.
George Hendry’s legacy as a winemaker and cyclotron designer will live on for generations to come. His deep appreciation for the land and his tenacity for perfecting the craft can be tasted in every bottle of Hendry Wines and seen in his cyclotron designs found in hospitals around the world.
