Christopher Tynan, the visionary winemaker at Cliff Lede Vineyards, hails from a diverse background. Born in New York and raised in Texas, his journey into the world of wine began as a vineyard technician managing irrigation in Napa and Sonoma counties.
His path to winemaking greatness took shape during a pivotal moment when he joined the legendary team of Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer at Blankiet Estate in Yountville for the 2005 harvest. Following this, he became the assistant winemaker at the esteemed Colgin Cellars on Pritchard Hill, where he honed his craft under the tutelage of Ann Colgin, Allison Tauziet, and David Abreu.
Christopher’s meticulous approach, emphasizing low-yield vines and minimal intervention, has resulted in numerous accolades, including seven 100-point scores by wine critic Robert Parker. Since joining Cliff Lede Vineyards in 2012, he continues to let the grapes tell their story, crafting wines that capture the essence of each site, block, and vintage. With a degree in English and Art History, Christopher’s passion for wine extends beyond the bottle, evident in his love for collecting and travel. His dedication to the art of winemaking shines through in every sip of Cliff Lede’s exceptional wines.
