Andrea Cortonesi, born into a family of hardworking sharecroppers, imbibed the values of toil and respect for the land from an early age. Amidst assisting his father in the vineyards, his passion for winemaking burgeoned, nurtured by esteemed mentors in the industry. In 1986, he acquired a farm enriched with ancient olive groves, pastures, and a modest vineyard, marking the genesis of his winemaking journey. Despite initial struggles, he stayed true to his principles, refusing to compromise quality for quantity. Thus, the Voliero label was born, a testament to his commitment to integrity and respect for the terroir. Today, Cortonesi continues to craft exquisite wines, each narrating a distinct tale of Montalcino’s rich heritage.
