Wine Description

Ramey Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard 2021, produced by Ramey Wine Cellars , is a true testament to the artistry of winemaker David Ramey. This wine hails from the Russian River Valley, an area renowned for its exceptional Russian River Valley Chardonnay. The grapes for this wine are grown and farmed by the third generation of the Rochioli family on their historic Ramey vineyard.

The Rochioli Vineyard of Ramey winery has been a cornerstone of grape cultivation since the late 1950s. Our 2021 Rochioli blend comprises 82% Mid-40 block and 18% River block. The soil, a Yolo sandy loam and overwash, enhances the phenolic delicacy of the grapes. Harvested on August 31 at 22.9˚ Brix, the grapes were pressed as whole clusters.

The winemaking process for this 100% Ramey chardonnay russian river valley involves native yeast fermentation and full native malolactic fermentation in barrel, with sur lies bâtonnage. This process takes place in 20% new Taransaud Beaune French oak barrels for 20 months. The wine is traditionally fined for clarity and texture, and bottled without filtration in June 2023.
