The Paul Lato Il Padrino Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard 2021 is a bold yet refined Syrah crafted by Paul Lato at Paul Lato Winery. Sourced from 26-year-old Estrella clone vines, this Syrah matured for 19 months in 66% new French oak, allowing it to develop remarkable depth, complexity, and structure.

This Syrah pours a deep ruby-purple, showcasing its richness and intensity. The color hints at the concentration and power locked inside the bottle. The nose explodes with ripe black fruits, cassis, and blueberry jam, balanced by savory notes of mint chocolate, tapenade, and dark spices. Cracked black pepper, leather, and iron add a wild, feral edge, while hints of spring flowers and violets lift the aromatics with elegance.

This full-bodied, concentrated Syrah delivers an intense core of perfumed fruit, layered with silky yet structured tannins. Waves of black pepper, aniseed, rosemary, and sage add spice, while tar and game bring depth. Focused acidity balances the richness, leading to a long, powerful finish with lingering spicy accents. The 2021 Syrah Il Padrino Bien Nacido Vineyard is particularly elegant and detailed. Grapes come from 26-year-old Estrella clone vines, and the wine was matured for 19 months in 66% new French oak. It has an intense perfume of cassis, blueberry jam, mint chocolate, tapenade, aniseed and dark spices. The full-bodied palate has plush, pixelated tannins and a concentrated core of perfumed fruit. Focused acidity offers balance, and it has a long finish with a flourish of spicy accents. Medium to full-bodied, it has a similar level of polish but is a touch more concentrated and lengthy on the palate, with ripe, building tannins and awesome length.
