Pico Blanco 2023 is a beautifully crafted white wine from Pisoni Vineyards, made by winemaker Jeff Pisoni. This blend of 86% Pinot Gris and 14% Pinot Blanc captures the essence of Monterey’s cool-climate winemaking, shaped by the fog, wind, and ocean breezes from the Monterey Bay. Sourced from Santa Lucia Highlands and Arroyo Seco, the vines grow in limestone, loam, granite, and gravel soils, creating a wine with elegance, finesse, and complexity.
The wine displays a delicate pale straw color that exudes freshness. Swirling the glass unfolds a bright bouquet of zesty lemon zest, floral orange blossom, and crushed stones. Aromas of Key lime, melon, and flint add further depth.
On the palate, the broad texture from Pinot Blanc brings a rounded mouthfeel, highlighting ripe pear, yellow peach, and Gravenstein apple. A touch of pineapple and lime-driven acidity keeps the wine fresh and bright, while a long, complex finish lingers with a steely, energetic grip.
The winemaking process at Pisoni Vineyards focuses on purity and complexity. The grapes are hand-sorted and carefully pressed to moderate phenolics.
