Saul Vizcaino –
2001 Pinot Noir from Eola Hills Winery. Deep ruby-purple color, black fruit with leather/earth tones. Smooth, light to medium bodied, but lacks depth and finish. Rated 73 by WS in 2004, improved but still so-so.
Loretta Beasley –
Past peak, earthy, weak fruit.
Melanie Roman –
Wolf Hill Vineyard’s blend of 3 clones aged in 15-20% French oak has a ruby color with cherry, sage, herb, spice, earthy, and clove notes. Its cherry and blueberry flavors mix with spicy oak, and a silky texture and nice acidity complete the experience.
Joseph Mallett –
Prefers California style such as Belle Glos or Paul Hobbs, so this wine is just OK.
Joseph Rowland –
Great wine, deep discount, brilliant dark cherry red color, full and flamboyant nose, primary cherry notes, lingering finish with darker chocolate notes, perfect with faux coq au vin.
Kathleen Dax –
Dark ruby, muted dark fruit on the nose. Tart dark berries and cherries, light tannins, nice acid backbone. Short to medium finish. Solid value, better with food.
Kenneth Jones –
Great Pinot, ruby red, fruity with chocolate notes and a long finish.
Michele Langston –
Superb Pinot Noir.
Michael Cates –
Smooth and smoky with notes of plums, rhubarb, meat, and saddle leather. Opens up nicely over two hours. Last year for this vintage.
Edward Evans –
Improved from last. Rich coffee, chocolate, raspberry. Autumn maple nose. Aged gracefully.
Barbara Hall –
Smooth, smokey, fruity, light molasses aroma, low heat. My favorite since ’06.
Edwina Love –
Dark burgundy with smoky notes in both nose and palate. Tart cherry and spice flavors.
Katherine Coss –
25% of the bottles had flawed corks, affecting the wine with seepage.
Robert Wyatt –
Wine was past its prime.
Clara Caraballo –
Poor cork.
Gustavo Martinez –
Cork heavily saturated, slight oxidation.
Arturo Meddaugh –
Undrinkable due to a bad cork.
Wendy Coleman –
Smoky with hints of cherry.
Jeannine Averill –
Good cork, cherry cola notes.
Bradley Sacco –
Improved from last time, this vintage is nicely balanced despite not being the best.
William Sadler –
Tart cranberry dominates with earthy and tobacco notes. Thin mouthfeel, hot finish, but solid acid.
Oscar Acevedo –
Wine came through fine despite 95% saturated cork.
Derrick Rabelo –
Cork intact.
Royce Dupree –
Ruined bottle due to soiled cork.
Alicia Cole –
Elegant and soft Willamette Pinot Noir. Clear winner with better spiciness and red fruits. Good wine.
Carl Watson –
Despite concerns over the cork, this wine is better than fine. With woodfire smoke and cinnamon on the nose and blackberry and spice on the palate, it has a long, toasty leather-vanilla finish. Drink it up over the next year.
Charlotte Mcmullen –
A great bottle! Despite a breached cork, the wine was still good.
Pauline Allison –
Cork sponge, wine not spoiled. Decent, but lacking in flavor.
Janice Goldston –
Cork is fully saturated.
Jason Mcmurray –
“Best pinot I’ve ever tasted. Dark fruit flavors, ultra smooth. Not a pinot fan, but loved it.”
Patrick Hanna –
Dark color, grassy smell with cocoa notes. Concentrated and slightly sweet. New world style, may benefit from aging.
