Wine Description
Cirq Pinot Noir 2019 captivates with its powerful expression of the 2019 vintage. The wine, crafted by Winemaker Jeremiah Timm, showcases the dynamic forces of nature, with a record-breaking winter rainfall followed by a moderate spring and idyllic summer ripening. The result is an exceptional vintage, with intense yet elegant wines, reminiscent of the character found in the acclaimed 2013 vintage.
In the glass, this Pinot Noir displays a mesmerizing ruby hue. The aromatics are a medley of freshly picked red berries, accompanied by hints of anise flowers, freshly turned earth, and wafts of ocean breeze, creating an enticing bouquet.
On the palate, it bursts with ripe red raspberries and brambly fruits, intertwined with lush red cherry and cranberry tart flavors, complemented by subtle citrus notes and light orange peel. The mouthfeel is supple and silky, with vibrant acidity and commanding structure. The well-integrated tannins add noticeable grip, creating a captivating movement on the palate that leads to a long, energetic finish.
Aged for 15 months, the wine benefits from a careful maturation process, spending time in 44% new French oak, 16% concrete, and 8% whole cluster. The combination of Clones 23, 2A, 828, 667, 777, Calera, Pommard, and 115 contributes to its complexity and depth.
Notably, Cirq Pinot Noir 2019 has earned critical acclaim, with esteemed wine critic Jeb Dunnuck awarding it a perfect score of 100 points. The wine’s layers of spice and incense perfume, along with its elegant palate and beautiful concentration, impressed Dunnuck. Vinous, with 94 points, lauds the wine’s racy and pliant nature, highlighting its crushed red berry fruit, blood orange, mint, and cinnamon notes. James Suckling also praises its pretty nose of red cherries, oranges, and sweet spices, awarding it 93 points. Wine Spectator, with 92 points, celebrates the wine’s juicy and direct character, with a solid core of black cherry, blackberry, and boysenberry paste flavors.

Julie Laforce –
Review: Rich red and dark fruit aromas, earthy notes. Consistent flavors, medium-high acid, higher tannins than expected but not harsh. Silky texture, long finish. Enjoyable now, but will age beautifully.
Marc Sivak –
Elegant wine with lush red fruit on the nose and a palette of rhubarb-strawberry with a hint of earthiness.
David Luna –
Intensely rich, succulent, and deliciously fruity.
Jorge Bunch –
This Pinot Noir boasts rich dark fruit, crisp acidity, medium tannins, and a hint of spice. A true display of Cirq elegance.
Della Pacheco –
Fantastic straight from the bottle. Aromatic notes of wood, elegant finish. Perfect with mushrooms.
Kasey Lewin –
Promising but young. Needs time to mature. Potential for a 95+ rating.
Patrick Caretto –
Review: Wine lacks vibrancy and depth. Flavors of vanilla, raspberry, and cola, but acidity is lacking. Not up to MB’s usual standard.
John Carrero –
PNP and singing right off the bat. Subtle and restrained, perfect with food. Drink or hold.
Laura Phillips –
Young but enjoyable. Well-crafted with a bright cherry, pomegranate, and cranberry nose. Lush mouthfeel, slightly balanced with high acidity. Medium+ body, flavors of cherry, strawberry, hints of earthy leaf, and a touch of oak. Nice Pinot Noir.
Ira Wilson –
This wine has a fresh red fruit aroma with grated nutmeg and a touch of mint. The palate offers darker stone fruits, leathery tannins, and a hint of saline minerality. It has a coating, oily acidity and finishes like a fragrant lipstick. Great structure for pairing with tapas, chicken wings, and tacos.
George Gonzales –
Bright red fruits of cranberry and red cherries shine through in this Pinot Noir. A 30-60 minute decant would have improved its potential. While good, it may not fully justify its price point.
Kevin Yantzer –
Excellent after a short decant, even better on day two. Aging potential of 6-18 months before a 2-hour decant. Very good wine. Will repurchase if available.
Ronda Chiles –
Possibly my favorite CIRQ yet. Concentrated with tart red fruit, my preferred pinot style. Aging potential is intriguing; could be a showstopper in 20 years. You never know…
Katie Sanchez –
Impressive wine. Exceptionally delicious. Dark burgundy color, light violet bouquet. Delicate mouthfeel, ultra silky texture. Needs 3-5 years or long decant.
Rex Barnard –
Fantastic Pinot! Balanced acidity and abundant flavors make it a delight. Enjoyed it throughout dinner, no changes needed. Great from the first sip!
Gloria Nelson –
Review: This wine offers fresh red berries, earthy tones, and hints of cardamom. Its flavors include ripe raspberries, brambly fruit, and a burst of lush red cherry and cranberry pastry. Recommended to age 2-3 years or decant for 2-3 hours before drinking.
Micheal Peterson –
Impressive bottle of wine, perfect for opening and pouring. Great nose, fruit, structure, balance, and finish. Nose dropped off after a while, but still highly impressed.
Lisa Marion –
Exceptional Russian River Pinot. Beautiful fruit, depth, and ethereal structure. No over-ripeness or high alcohol. Ready to enjoy, but lacking tannins. Price is the only downside. Would buy a case if it were half the $150.
Lula Hamilton –
This wine is the dragon I’ve been chasing since KB. It has the weight, fruit, and texture of the best ’04 pinots. Pure pleasure, a must-try.
Deanna Chipman –
Delightful New World Pinot Noir with cherry, pomegranate, and cranberry notes. Lush mouthfeel and hints of earthy leaf. Pure joy!
Robert Taul –
This is a fantastic RRV Pinot. Lovely nose, great flavors. Comparable to the best KB Pinots. Worth the price. Best years ahead, but still enjoyable now with decanting.
