Wine Description
Introducing Bodegas Tridente ‘Rejon’ Tempranillo Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y Leon 2018:
Crafted with meticulous care, Bodegas Tridente’s ‘Rejon’ is a testament to the artistry of winemaking. This exceptional red wine, aged for an impressive 20 months in oak barrels, embodies the essence of the Tempranillo grape variety.
In the heart of El Pego, within Toro’s prestigious appellation, lies the Rejon vineyard, the birthplace of this remarkable wine. Here, 130-year-old vines flourish in unique terroir, characterized by a top layer of gravel over sandy soils. Handpicked in small 15-kilogram baskets, the grapes undergo both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels, where they mature for two decades.
Rejon captivates the eye with its opulent, opaque purple hue. The nose reveals a symphony of aromas, featuring ripe black fruits like blackberries and plums, harmoniously intertwined with mineral notes. On the palate, it delivers an unctuous, powerful, and rounded experience, marked by a well-structured, meaty character, balanced by round and wide sweet tannins. It’s a wine of elegance and depth, leaving a lasting impression with its long, flavorful finish.
This limited-production gem, with only 500 cases made and 200 cases imported to the US, pairs exquisitely with robust dishes. It complements powerful stews, meaty rice dishes, grilled red meats, roasted lamb, pork, and beef. It even stands up to big game meats, spicy sausages, and highly aged cheeses.
Receiving a stellar score of 91 points from Wine Spectator, this bold and toasty wine exhibits rich flavors of blackberry tart, smoky bacon fat, graphite, fig cake, and herbes de Provence. Its creamy profile is balanced by dense, chalky tannins, culminating in a subtly spiced finish. This wine is a masterpiece, encapsulating the serenity and complexity of its exceptional terroir. Enjoy it now or cellar it for even greater rewards from 2023 through 2028.
