Dunn Vineyards Description
Dunn Vineyards, located in the picturesque Angwin area of Napa Valley, has a rich history dating back to 1978 when Randy and Lori Dunn purchased a 14-acre parcel of land with five acres of Cabernet vines. Randy, who was a full-time winemaker in Rutherford at the time, along with Lori and their young son Mike, lovingly tended to these vines during evenings and weekends. This marked the beginning of their winemaking journey.
The following year, Randy agreed to farm and purchase fruit from Harry Frank’s adjoining property, further expanding their venture. With their first harvest in 1979, they garnered nine tons of fruit from these two vineyards. Dunn Vineyards continued to grow as they acquired an additional three tons from the Beatty Ranch.
In 1981, the winery received official bonding, and by 1984, the ATF recognized Howell Mountain as a sub-AVA of Napa Valley. Over the years, the family expanded with the arrival of their daughters, Kristina and Jennifer.
Dunn Vineyards is renowned for its commitment to farming practices that emphasize quality. Their vineyards, particularly those on Howell Mountain, produce exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The winery’s dedication to crafting top-notch Cabernet Sauvignon wines has earned them a well-deserved reputation in the world of Napa Valley winemaking.
Today, Dunn Vineyards stands as a testament to the Dunn family’s unwavering dedication and passion for crafting outstanding wines, with Randy at the helm as the winemaker. Their journey, which began as a labor of love on a small parcel of land, has evolved into a celebrated winemaking legacy rooted in the heart of Napa Valley.
