Dr. Hoffman’s visionary planting of Pinot Noir in the craggy hillside terrain of HMR Vineyard marked the beginning of this winery’s journey. In 1973, he also introduced Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay to the same vineyard, showcasing his belief in the region’s potential.

Situated 1400-1800 feet above sea level in the Santa Lucia Mountains, Adelaida’s vineyards benefit from an idyllic microclimate. The Hoffman family, led by Dr. Hoffman and his sons, David and Michael, has dedicated themselves to producing only estate-bottled premium wines.

Adelaida’s story began with Dr. Hoffman’s quest to find a region reminiscent of the great viticultural areas of France. His commitment to this vision led to the establishment of a winery where love, devotion, and self-sacrifice were the driving forces behind their exceptional wines.

The winery’s seven meticulously maintained vineyards occupy diverse mountainous terrains characterized by chalk-rock limestone soils, coastal air influences, and significant temperature variations.
